The third book in my Marie Jenner Mystery series is now out in the wild, and my Western Canadian Tour is over. How did it go? In a word, wonderfully!
I had the opportunity to do a reading at McNally Robinson in Winnipeg on October. 5th Unfortunately, it was a couple of weeks before Stalking the Dead came out–but I read from it anyhow! Lots of wonderful people there for the reading, put on by the Chiaroscuro Reading Series Winnipeg (ChiZine). Big thanks to Chadwick Ginther for inviting me!
Then, I had my on the ground launches. October 25th at Variant Edition Comics, (At their new digs. If you haven’t seen it yet, drop by. It’s wonderful!) in Edmonton, and then at Owl’s Nest Books in Calgary for October 27th. Both of them were great fun! Lots of fun and a great way to celebrate the new book.
November 2nd and 3rd, I had the opportunity to go to Vancouver for a couple of events. Noir in the Bar at Shebeen Whiskey House in Vancouver and an Alternate Histories panel at the Vancouver Public Library. They were both fabulous (even though the World Series Final was on for the Noir @ the Bar. I thought I was going to miss the end of the game, but, believe it or not, there was a rain delay while I was reading. I actually caught the end of the game on the radio as my cousin was driving me “home.” I’ll never forget it!) Met some wonderful writers, and I think I’m going to go back, if they’ll have me. A special shout out to Sam Wiebe, author of Invisible Dead and Writer in Residence for the Vancouver Library. A wonderful writer, and a real gentleman. Thank you for everything!
On October 9th, I was back at Owl’s Nest with two other Edmonton authors (TK Boomer and Wayne Arthurson) for the Edmonton Invasion! Great fun, and I personally had a great time quizzing them both about their books. (Better them than me answering questions!)
On October 19th, I was back in Calgary at the Indigo Signal Hill bookstore for a book signing. It was fantastic there! So many people came in to pick up my next book–or buy all three as Christmas gifts! Best conversation of the day: “You are my new favourite author.” Love it!
Then, on October 22nd, I was in Sherwood Park at the Common Ground Community Cafe for a book signing.
Had a wonderful time chatting with people and drinking coffee. Plus, they have the best spice cookies! Try them!
And then, I was done. Exhausted, but done.
Now, I’m working on the next book and gearing up for Christmas. One of my favourite times of the year, no doubt about it!
If I can find more photos of any of these events, I will post them. But for now, I’m out. I need to get the tree up, after all. And maybe some baking done. (Lots of baking. What the heck!) And then there’s buying the gifts and wrapping and on and on…
I can hardly wait!
